Here are the updates made to Shadow Arena during the November 5th maintenance.

■ New Hero “Tantu” 

- Added new Hero, ”Tantu”.

After Ba-Ri and Heilang’s release, the next Hero released was Wu-Ju, hidden among the Random Heroes feature. So it has been a while since our last formal Hero introduction.  

Tantu is a new type of shooter Hero that almost makes you feel like you’re playing a shooter game.  You can load the Iron Buster with a maximum of 4 Bullets using his RMB and his basic attacks will be a ranged attack when the Iron Buster is loaded.  

Tantu’s range is shorter than the range of other ranged Heroes like Orwen and Herawen, but if you land hits at a close distance, the damage is amplified like a shotgun and you can even Stiffen opponents.  

Even with Tantu’s shorter range compared to other ranged Heroes and a limited number of Bullets, he can still dish out powerful damage at close range and show off his true strengths in a skirmish.  

  

■ Start of Beta Season 2 

- Beta Season 2 has started. 

  > Round 1 of Beta Season 2: After the November 5, 2020 (Thu) maintenance -Before the  December 10, 2020 (Thu) 

  > All players who achieved Gold or higher tier in Beta Season 1 will receive the [Tagahl] Living Legend skin in their in-game mail.  

In this new season, Promotion Matches are easier than those of the previous Season, but it will become more difficult to raise Tier points. In Solo Ranked Matches, winning against your Rival has become more important than ever and in Trio Ranked Matches, earning Ascension Points as a team is crucial.  

 

■ New Battle Pass 

- A new Battle Pass has been added with the start of Beta Season 2.

■ Hero 

- Fixed an issue where the Ascension motion was not activated when you Ascend while mounted on a ride.  

- Improved an intermittent issue where buffs were not applied upon reviving in Trio mode.  

 

 

 

Shield of Heidel (RMB) 

- Increased Guard Capacity of Shield of Heidel by 10%. 

- Fixed an issue where the skill went on cooldown when you received damage immediately after using the skill. 

Jordine’s shield seemed to lack potency in Trio Mode where there are more attacks to block so we increased the damage that the shield can block by 10%.  

 

 

 

Fallen Flower (RMB), Clairvoyance (2)  

- Improved an issue where the skills went on cooldown when you receive damage immediately after using the skill. 

 

 

 

Phantom Raven (RMB) 

- Fixed an issue where the skill went on cooldown when you receive damage immediately after using the skill. 

 

 

 

Thunder Rip (3) 

- Improved an issue where the skill went on cooldown when you receive damage immediately after using the skill. 

 

 

 

Fairy Flame (RMB) 

- Fixed an issue where the skill went on cooldown when you receive damage immediately after using the skill. 

- Improved an issue where you moved awkwardly if you continue to move in the direction that you were moving after using the skill. 

 

 

 

Twin Fairy Arrow (3)  

- Changed Ultimate level of Twin Fairy Arrow (3) as following:  

> HP recovery per target hit effect were removed and instead you will apply twice as much damage as Natural Marksman does.  

The Ultimate level of Twin Fairy Arrow (3) originally had slight HP recovery upon hit but it had low usage due to how risky it was for Orwen to be in melee situations. This change will boost her strengths as a ranged damage dealer and enable her to apply massive damage in favorable situations thanks to Twin Fairy Arrow (3)’s new damage amplifying effect. 

The new Ultimate level effect of Twin Fairy Arrow (3) was designed to be more effective when you have “very high” AP. If the opponent’s DP is too high or if Orwen has low AP due to unsuccessful grinding, then it may apply less damage than the Level 3 counterpart.  

 

 

 

Scale Ripper (RMB) 

- Reduced DP reduction effect per hit of Scale Ripper from 15% to 10%. (If 3 hits total landed: DP 45% > 30% reduction) 

Tagahl’s Scale Ripper (RMB) became too powerful in Trio thanks to how it could significantly reduce several opponents’ DP at once when you land it. Thus, we reduced Scale Ripper (RMB)’s DP reduction effect from 45% to 30%.  

 

 

 

Orchid’s Dance (RMB) 

- Improved an issue where the skill went on cooldown when you receive damage immediately after using the skill.  

 

 

 


Earth Alchemy Stone (RMB), Rockwind (3) 

- Increased the attack range of Earth Alchemy Stone by 10%.  

- Fixed an issue where the skill went on cooldown when you receive damage immediately after using the skill. 

Gorgath was unable to situate himself in an advantageous position and pressure his opponents after the nerf on Earth Alchemy Stone (RMB)’s attack range.  

Since Gorgath steadily showed low performance after this change, we slightly buffed Earth Alchemy Stone (RMB)’s attack range. Even if it is not the level as it was before, it should be easier to take control of an area. 

 

 

 

Shield of Revenge (RMB) 

- Increased Guard Capacity of Shield of Revenge by 20%.  

- Fixed an issue where the skill went on cooldown when you receive damage immediately after using the skill. 

Igrid’s shield defense was very lacking in team fight situations after Trio Mode’s release so we increased its potency. This buff will have higher DP potency compared to Jordine’s when he’s holding guard. 

(However, Jordine will have higher DP potency than Igrid immediately after starting his block.) 

 

 

 

- Increased Heilang’s HP by 20%.  

- Increased Heilang’s HP regen while he’s seated and resting from 800 per 5 seconds to 1200 per 5 seconds.  

- Fixed an issue where the DP buff was not applied after reviving in Trio mode.  

Heilang was originally designed to have low HP and be defeated easily even with high attack power but after Heilang’s AP nerf last update without HP adjustments, he lost a lot of strength.  

Thus, we increased Heilang’s HP by 20% and enabled faster HP regen when he’s on standby after the Wait command.

 

 

■ Trio Mode 

- Increased the minimum number of players to start Trio mode from 12 to 15.  

- Removed Sealed Relic Towers from Trio mode.  

- Fixed an issue where the kill buff you obtain from defeating a Hero was duplicated.  

- Improved the notifications for Shadow Lord, Stoneback Crab, and Specter spawns to be more visible.  

- Added the number of Blackstar Fragments collected by each individual team member to be shown in the party member UI located on the upper left side. The Blackstar Fragments that you collected will be shown in parentheses () next to the total amount. 

- Added a notification for defeating important objectives in Trio mode.  

> Added a notification to all Heroes when a Shadow Lord is defeated.  

> Added a notification to teammates when defeating Altars, Stoneback Crabs, and Specters.  

There are many changes to Trio mode in this update.  

To summarize, we changed the timing of important objectives and the Dark Fog to improve the game flow. Especially, the spawn times of very important bosses were changed so the first Boss now spawns earlier but the frequency of boss spawns has now increased from every 2 minutes to 3 minutes. The location of their spawn is now limited to the center of the Dark Fog so you can plan and strategize in advance.  

Additionally, we added 3 slots of “Team Shared Inventory” to help with item distribution among team members. With this Shared Inventory, you can share items even when you are apart and take advantage of other strategic options.

Shared Inventory (Trio mode) 

- Three slots of Shared Inventory were added where you can exchange items among team members.  

- Open Inventory (I) and select the item you want to exchange with a mouse and press Ctrl + LMB to put the item in the Shared Inventory.  

- Select item from the Shared Inventory, located at the bottom of the Inventory UI, with the mouse, and press Ctrl + LMB or RMB to take it out of the Shared Inventory.  

- You can put items into or take items out of the Shared Inventory and into your own Inventory regardless of the distance between team members.  

- Items in Shared Inventory will not be dropped even if the player dies.  

Previously, team members had to meet up, drop off items one by one, and pick them up in order to distribute and combine items and it was a very tedious procedure. Thus, we developed a separate inventory where you can exchange items regardless of the distance. 

If a team member revives with low gear or needs a specific item, you can quickly exchange items through Shared Inventory, or you can use it to store important items that you cannot afford to lose.  

However, the slots are limited to 3 so there is a limit to how many items you can save. Additionally, consumable items cannot be stacked.  

 

Ancient Altar (Trio Mode) 

- Changed the Ancient Altars’ effect to the following:  

  > All Artifacts’ HPs were increased by 2.5 times.

Ancient Altars are modified in Trio mode to apply effects to the entire team. Certain Altar effects have been reduced since the effects are team-wide unlike how it was in Solo mode.  

This change is specific to Trio mode only and there are no changes in the Solo mode.

  • Total Trio Tier Points Acquired = [Placement Score] + [Ascension Points/ (15 + Number of team members * 5)] - Base Point Deduction per Tier 

There is no Rival system in Trio mode so you must have high placements and Ascension Points in order to increase Tier Points. Ascension Points are earned by defeating important objectives, monsters, and other players, and you can receive 20% of a team’s Ascension Points if you wipe them out. 

 

Relic of Ascension  

- Reduced the damage of Dark Fog after a team successfully Ascends. 

- Changed the names of “Tower of Ascension” to “Relic of Ascension” in certain languages.  

- Changed the spawn time of Relic of Ascension from 15 minutes to 14 minutes 30 seconds.  

- Increased the time it takes to Ascend by 1.5 times.  

- Adjusted the maximum Ascension Points necessary to reduce Ascension time.  

> Before: 400 → After: 250 

The Relic of Ascension makes an appearance to mark the beginning of the final battle, but it was conquered very quickly, and the game would end before a proper fight even occurred. Thus, we increased the time it takes to Ascend so more intense battles around the Relic of Ascension can take place.

 - Changed Shadow Lords to spawn in the center of the Dark Fog instead of random locations.  

The spawn time of the first Shadow Lord, Varigord, is now earlier but the spawn frequency was increased so that the last Shadow Lord, Margord, spawns 12 minutes into a match. 

Additionally, their spawn locations are now fixed to the center of Dark Fog so teams can situate themselves ahead and prepare to fight.  

 

Specters and AI Bots 

- Fixed an issue where DP +500 for 5 seconds was not applied upon defeating a Specter. 

- Changed the maximum number of AI bots in Trio mode to 10.  

The number of players to start a match was increased from 12 to 15 and the maximum number of AI Bots was restricted but they spawn earlier so games can be started more quickly.  

 

Stoneback Crab 

- Changed spawn times of Stoneback Crabs to the following:  

  > Before: Spawns randomly after a match starts until the 2-minute mark 

  > After: Spawns randomly between 1 - 2 minutes after a match starts 

- Reduced the duration of the buff you obtain from defeating Stoneback Crabs by 1 minute.  

  > Steppe Stoneback Crab: (Before) Lasts for 5 minutes → (After) Lasts for 4 minutes 

  > Mountain Stoneback Crab: (Before) Lasts for 10 minutes → (After) Lasts for 9 minutes 

  > Demi River Stoneback Crab: (Before) Lasts for 10 minutes → (After) Lasts for 9 minutes 

- Reduced the HP of Demi River Stoneback Crab from 36,000 to 30,000. 

- Reduced the monster damage buff effect you gain from defeating Steppe Stoneback Crabs from +700 to +300.  

Stoneback Crabs are very important strategic points and fights frequently broke out around them. Defeating Steppe Stoneback Crabs especially can immediately lead to hunting Shadow Lords which became a popular method to snowball the game. This snowball effect seemed too powerful, so we slightly nerfed Steppe Stoneback Crab’s effects and delayed the spawn times of Stoneback Crabs, so you have less time to hunt the Shadow Lord after defeating the Stoneback Crabs.  

 

Blackstar Fragment 

- Increased the movement reduction effect upon acquiring Blackstar Fragments from 3 seconds to 4 seconds.  

- Changed the spawn time of Blackstar Fragments as following:  

  > 1st Spawn: (Before) Start of match - 3-minute mark → (After) Start of match - 2-minute mark 

  > 2nd Spawn: (Before) 5 minutes - 8 minutes → (After) 5 minutes - 7 minutes 

 

The Blackstar Fragment spawn times were reduced so you can form more strategic paths around them.

 

Dark Fog Movement Times

- Changed the last Dark Fog movement time to the following:  

  > Before: 14 minutes - 14 minutes 30 second → After: 13 minutes 30 seconds - 14 minutes 

To match with boss spawn times and the Relic spawn time, the last Dark Fog movement time is now faster by 30 seconds.  

 

■ Jump Gate 

- Fixed an intermittent issue where you do not turn into a Black Spirit after using the Jump Gate and landing on the ground.  

- Changed the movement speed and jump height of the Black Spirit that you turn into after using Jump Gate and landing on the ground to be the same as those of the Black Spirit that you turn into after reviving.  

- Improved the Jump Gate to be accessible to other Heroes for 5 seconds after a player first uses the Jump Gate.  

- Added black visual effects to disappear immediately when the Jump Gate is unable to be used.  

- Changed the black visual effect from the Jump Gate to flow from bottom to top. 

 

■ Item 

- Reduced the range the matchlock needs to be fired at for additional fixed damage (+5000) against monsters or Ancient Weapons from 50M to 25M.  

  

■ Ancient Weapon 

- Increased the firing speed of Laytenn’s laser. 

- Reduced the amount of energy spent upon using Laytenn’s laser attack from 100 to 50.  

 

■ Sparring Grounds 

- Changed the HP and DP of Specters in Sparring Grounds to be the same as those of other Heroes.  

- Changed Specters to go to their original spot in invincible state and recover HP when 0.2 seconds pass after a certain combo attack is inflicted or when 2 or more hits are inflicted without being knocked back.  

- Fixed Specters to be visible after time when they sometimes disappear.   

 

■ Achievement 

- Added new Challenges and Titles.

■ Sound 

- Changed certain basic settings to reduce noises in voice chat.  

  > Try adjusting mic sensitivity under Settings for better voice chat quality.

- Added a vocal cue when the Relic of Ascension appears.  

 

■ Other Fixes and Improvements 

- Changed the size of the item list in Inventory to match the UI size. 

- Changed the message that appears when attempting to discard items in Solo mode with Shift + LMB.  

  > Before: You may not discard items in Solo mode. → After: This action cannot be done in the current mode.  

- Improved the Skill Point count to be more visible in the character information UI located at the bottom.  

 

■ Website Improvements 

 

[Arena Board] > [Ranking] 

- Removed Team Mode Rankings and added Trio Mode Rankings.  

- Added new Hero Tantu in the Rankings. 

 

[Community] 

- Fixed an issue where the default image did not appear in the community profile.  

 

Other Fixes and Improvements 

- Removed the connect button to OP.GG in the bottom of the official website and at the top of the launcher.
