Here are the updates made to Shadow Arena during the maintenance on June 17 (Thu).

■ Major Fixes and Improvements

 

- Fixed an issue where a player could not be revived properly if they were revived during a duel or a game.

- Fixed the issue where the tier score would decrease even when winning a match.

- Fixed an issue where, if a player used Wu-Ju's Hide & Seek!(Q), the opponent’s HP bar would not appear.

- Added the amount of damage a summoned creature inflicted and received to be properly applied to the result screen.

- Fixed the issue where, if you entered Sparring Grounds/Custom/Tutorial, a notification message that tells you to leave the party would occasionally appear.

- Fixed the issue where, when you returned to the Main Lobby after completing a game, your party members’ tiers would be displayed as Shade tier.

- Fixed the issue where, if you were matched with a party while dyeing, you could not start the game.

- Fixed an issue where certain slots in the Shop Storage could not be selected in some screen resolution settings.

- Fixed the issue where the control guide and the minimap would overlap when spectating.

- Fixed an issue where the ‘Hungry Black Spirit’ notification message appeared if you died in the Dark Fog.

- Fixed the issue where the visual effect of knock back appeared twice when a hero received an attack with a knock back effect.

- Fixed the issue where AI Jordine could knock back enemeies even in Super Armor when using Shield Charge.

- Fixed the issue where AI Jordine would use Shield of Heidel continuously even when the skill is in cooldown.


[Dev’s Note]

In this update, we focused on fine-tuning the game by fixing issues and adjusting the balance. At the moment, we would like to pause adding systems that would drastically change the in-game environment. Instead, we will fix major issues of the existing system while improving details on the way as quickly as possible. Of course, we are still developing the rest of the Mastery system, but otherwise, our main focus will be on improving the game environment to provide a more enjoyable experience for our players.

 

■ Hero

 

| All

- Reduced the motion that goes over a terrain by app. 0.46 sec.

- Improved the issue where you would fall down in place while going over a terrain.

- Fixed so that the sound of all heroes’ RMB Mastery Skill introduction videos would be audible.

 

 

| Shield Charge B (Q)

- Reduced the casting time of Shield Charge B by 0.1 sec.

- Increased the debuff duration of Shield Charge B from 1 sec to 1.3 sec.


[Dev’s Note]

We decreased the skill’s casting time so that it becomes easier to precisely hit the target. We've also increased the skill’s debuff duration, which will make it easier to combo into other attacks after landing a thrust attack with Shield Charge.

 

 

| Clairvoyance B (Q)

- Decreased the amount of stamina consumed by app. 45%.


[Dev’s note]

To attribute more defensive advantages to Clairboyance B than A, we have decreased the amount of stamina consumed, so that players could maintain Clairboyance B for a longer period of time.

 

 

| Dark Mark(Q)

- Decreased the Knockback duration of Dark Mark B from 1.5 sec to 1.2 sec.

- Decreased the amount of damage inflicted on monsters by Dark Mark B from x2 to x1.5.

- Fixed an issue where, if you switched camera right after using the skill, you were unable to inflict damages even though the hit was successful.

 

| Sun of Destruction(R)

- Improved the skill’s visual effects.

 

 

 

- Fixed the issue where you would start a match in non-combat stance.

 

| Thunder Rip (RMB)

- Improved the skill’s visual and sound effects.

 

| Heart Stab B (Q)

- Fixed an issue where the transitioning motion from Heart Stab B to other motions was not smooth.

> Increased the transition time from Heart Stab B to other motions by app. 0.07 sec.

 

| Mirage (E)

- Increased the distance you move backward after using the skill by app. 20%.


[Dev’s Note]

There was an issue where the transition time to other motions after using Heart Stab B was too short, which made the skill’s animation look abnormal. As a result, we have slightly increased the transition time while also increasing the distance you retreat after using Mirage, which will allow players to utilize more hit-and-run tactics in combat.

 
 

- Fixed an issue where you could not jump right after you started sprinting.

- Changed so that if you used Thunder Viper while sprinting, you would start walking.

 

| Seed of Ice B (Q)

- Changed so that if you threw the seed in the air, it would fly the max distance possible and fall without exploding.


[Dev’s Note]

When Herawen used Thunder Viper while sprinting, the skill’s movement speed debuff made it extremely difficult for the opponent to run away from her. Therefore, we applied a change where she would start walking if she used Thunder Viper while sprinting.

 

 

- Fixed an issue where you could not move if you used Thunderbolt Arrow after making a lateral jump.

- Fixed an issue where, if you held W + Space key while moving forward, you were not able to jump but stop in place.

- Fixed an issue where, if you held A or D + Space key while moving laterally, you were not able to jump.

- Fixed an issue where, if you switched camera after dealing the last hit of basic attack, you were not able to inflict damages even though the hit was successful.

 

| Thunderbolt Arrow(RMB)

- Fixed an issue where, if you used Shower of Arrows right after using Thunderbolt Arrow, you were unable to switch directions or move in the middle of the skill.

- Fixed an issue where the viewpoint would be fixed if you used the skill while sitting.

- Fixed an issue where the sound would not be audible if you moved after using the skill while sitting.

 

| Shower of Arrows(R)

- Improved the skill’s visual effects.


[Dev’s note]

There were several inconveniences playing as Orwen such as not being able to jump when attacking while moving and viewpoint being locked when you clicked RMB after certain motions. The adjustments were made to address these issues, so that players would find it more enjoyable to play as Orwen.

 

 

| Helix Cannon (RMB)

- Fixed an issue where, if you switched camera right after using the skill, you were unable to inflict damages even though the hit was successful.

 

 

 

- Fixed an issue where a Frenzy buff of +100 would be applied if he used Matchlock at an HP below 20%.

 

| Corpse Cut B (Q)

- Improved an issue where the skill’s visual effect would not appear if the effect’s distance is too far from the other player’s viewpoint.


[Dev’s Note]

The Frenzy buff is only supposed to grant AP +175 when Goyen’s HP is low. However, there was an issue where, when he used Matchlock with a low HP, a frenzy buff of AP +100 is applied together and did not disapper even after the HP is restored. The Frenzy buff issue has been fixed with this update.

 
 

- Reduced the casting motion of her first basic attack by app. 0.1 sec.

- Increased the attack speed of her basic attack by app. 6%.

 

| Switch Stance (RMB)

- Fixed an issue where the party buff of AP against monsters would not be applied in Courage Stance.

- Fixed an issue where, when switching to Courage Stance, the monster AP buff would not be applied occasionally.

- Added a description on the range of monster AP buff in the Switch Stance skill description.

 

| Shield of Fortitude (RMB)

- Reduced the cooldown of Shield of Fortitude from 17 sec to 12 sec.

- Reduced the duration of Shield of Fortitude to half.

- Reduced the max amount of recovery by Shield of Fortitude from +1500 to +900.

> (Before) Recover by 300 for 5 times → (Now) Recover by 300 for 3 times)

- Changed so that, while using the skill, the Shield will be canceled by basic walking.

- Reduced the transition time to other motions after the Shield of Fortitude was canceled by app. 0.5 sec.

- Improved so that the Shield of Ice visual effect would immediately disappear after the Shield of Fortitude is canceled.

- Changed skill icon.

 

| Blade of Retribution (Courage Stance E)

- Increased the duration of Stun effect of Blade of Retribution from 0.5 sec to 1 sec.

 

| Radiant Pursuit/Sacred Barrier (Q)

- Improved so that the Sacred Barrier would be destroyed if you re-entered Q key after using the skill.

> This may be used in Courage Stance and Patience Stance.


[Dev’s Note]

There was an issue with Venslar where, if she switched to Courage Stance after making a certain motion, neither the transition motion nor the monster AP buff would be applied. To fix this, we added a visual and sound effect where Venslar would shout “Courage Stance!” and improved the monster AP buff to be applied properly.

Plus, despite her concept of switching stance, Venslar has a limitation where her skills of the same stance shared the same cooldown. To make Courage Stance more useful, we increased the stun effect of Blade of Retribution, which will give players the option to combo into other attacks.

 

 

- Reduced the preparatory motion for the Black Spirit skill “Control” by app. 0.1 sec.

- Reduced the transition time to other motions after using the Black Spirit skill “Control” by app. 0.67 sec.

 

| Crimson Nether Flower (E)

- Fixed an issue where the skill description omitted the part about Bleeding.

 

 

 

- Fixed an issue where, if you switched camera after dealing the last hit of basic attack, you were not able to inflict damages even though the hit was successful.

 

| Rock Explosion (RMB)

- Improved by making the summon time of rocks and the visual effects to appear by app. 0.1 sec faster.

 

 

 

 

| Hide & Seek! B (Q)

- Decreased the speed of Roll by 16.7%.

- Improved so that all motions of Roll would be applied Invincible buff.

> (Before) Invincible only right after you started Roll → (Now) Invincible at all motions of Roll

- Changed the max travel distance of Roll from 5M to 7M.

 

 

 

| Free-Form (RMB)

- Fixed an issue where, if you used Whirlwind after using First Blade : Rushing Gale B, the second hit’s Floating would not hit on point.

 

| First Blade : Rushing Gale B(Q)

- Improved the sound effect.

 

 

 

| Thunder Strike B (Q)

- Changed so that the previous step’s attack would not be activated if you canceled charging.

- Improved so that the charging gauge would be more clearly visible.

 

 

 

| Reload (RMB)

- Fixed an issue where, if you used the skill while dashing, stamina would occasionally be recovered.

 

| Exploding Bullet (RMB)

- Fixed an issue where, if you used the skill while sprinting, stamina would occasionally be recovered.

- Improved an issue where, when you make a sprint attack, its visual effect would occasionally not be displayed.

 

| Charged Shot (Q)

- Fixed an issue where, if you switched camera after dealing the last hit of basic attack, you were not able to inflict damages even though the hit was successful.

 

| Overload (R)

- Reduced the duration of Overload by 2 sec.

> (Before) 10 sec → (Now)8 sec

- Reduced the cooldown of Overload by 1 sec.

> (Before) 31 sec → (Now)30 sec


[Dev’s Note]
Tantu can deal a great amount of damage, but he has to load bullets in order to attack. Overload(R) is the skill that covers for this limitation; since we observed an overwhelming efficiency against opponent heroes or important objects during the skill’s duration, we reduced the duration by 2 sec.
 

 

| Shadow Bullet (RMB)

- Fixed an issue where, if you switched camera after dealing the last hit of basic attack, you were not able to inflict damages even though the hit was successful.

 

| Shadow of Quturan B (Q)

- Improved the sound effect.

 

| Contaminated Sacrifice(E)

- Reduced the duration of Skeleton Wolves summonned while using Contaminated Sacrifice from 8 sec to 6 sec.

- Improved the issue where a Skeleton Wolf would temporarily pause before exploding when it chases after the opponent.

 

 

 

| Garden of Roses(R)

- Improved the sound effect when a player is hit by the fence of the Garden of Roses.

 

 

 

| Don’t Hurt Me!(RMB)

- Improved so that you could switch to other skills while using the skill.

> Improved so that, even if you used Shining Light after using Don’t Hurt Me!, the effect of Don’t Hurt Me! would be maintained.

 

| Thaw Winter B(Q)

- Fixed a typo on Burn Damage in the skill description.

 

| Shining Light(E)

- Fixed an issue where, if you used Don’ Hurt Me! right after using the skill, the effect of Shining Light would not be applied.

 

 

■ Sub-skill Mastery

 

- Sub-skill mastery system has changed as below.

[Dev’s note]

These sub-skills are changed to better match with their concepts: ‘efficient hunting’ for Hawk Eye and ‘quick move and escape’ for Nimble Maneuver.

 

■ Black Spirit Skills

 

- Reduced the hit range of Matchlock projectile by 50%.

- Improved so that the charging gauge will appear while making a preparing motion to use Matchlock.

- Fixed an issue where, if you used Electric Shock in a different direction than where the hero was facing, it would look like you used it in the direction where the hero was facing in other players’ point of view.

[Dev’s Note]

For Matchlock, there were many instances where the bullet would blocked by an object or terrain in front of the target despite its small size. Therefore, we improved the skill by greatly reducing the size of the hit range recognized by the bullet projectile so that it will hit the target more accurately.

 

■ Support Chest

 

- Increased the daily purchase limit of Support Chests to 3.

 

 

■ Increased Amount of Silver

 

- Tripled the amount of silver obtained from playing.

- The amount of silver obtained from the number of kills earned by the player you spectated and cheered has increased from 10 to 30.

- If you won the match, the amount of silver obtained from the number of spectators who watched your play has changed as below.

> (Before) The number of spectators who watched your play * 10

> (Now) The number of spectators who watched your play * 20


[Dev’s Note]

Due to the purchase limit of Support Chests to 1 per day, it was extremely difficult and impractical to obtain dyes or skin fragments. To solve this, we extended the daily purchase limit of Support Chests to 3 and decreased the difficulty of raising silvers by increasing the amount of silver obtained from playing or spectating.

| Improvement in the visibility of visual effects for defeating objects

- Added visual/sound effects to notify that you obtained certain effects when you defeated or destroyed the objects below.

> Relic of Ascension, Shadow Lord, Stoneback Crab, Ancient Relic (Goddess’ Blessing, Aal’s Eye), or if you obtained a Rare Item (Boss Defense Gear, Red Dragon’s Offering, Hand of Salvation)


[Dev’s Note]

Players want to know which team would benefit the most from capturing important objects in the game. However, the current system did not emphasize the importance of the objects in the game. Especially for the Relic of Ascension (Before: Relic of Time), it was hard to tell who obtained the effect even if you were right beside them. Therefore, we added more obvious visual/sound effects so that the players’ sense of achievement will be fulfilled upon obtaining them and the information will be clearer to other players.

| Jump Gate

- Changed the Jump Gate to appear at 30 sec after the start of the game. (Before : Appear right at the start of the game)

 

| Relic of Ascension

- Changed the name of ‘Relic of Time’ to ‘Relic of Ascension’.

> Changed the phrase in the Tutorial guide accordingly.

- Improved so that, if a player obtained the power of Relic of Ascension, a visual effect where the hero receives a revelation from the above would be displayed for app. 3 sec.

 

| Revive

- Reduced the auto-revive time as below.

> (Before) auto-revive time = revive by team member time x2 → (Now) auto-revive time = revive by team member time x1.5

- Changed the time period where the Black Spirit jumps after being revived as below.

> (Before) Until 10 min into the game / Reviving in place is enabled since 10 min

> (Now) Until 8 min into the game / Reviving in place is enabled since 8 min

- Fixed an issue where you would fly outside the Dark Fog since the travel distance of revival jump was too far.


[Dev’s Note]

Reviving your team member gets more difficult if your team is weak, and it may even lead to additional deaths if the stronger team is keeping its eyes on the grave. Therefore, we have reduced the auto-revive time so that players, who could not be revived by their team members, could revive on their own.

Plus, the addition of Black Spirit jump after being revived proved even more disadvantageous to a team that lost the match. In 8 min - 10 min into the game, it seemed unreasonable to travel such a long distance with the Black Spirit jump when the Dark Fog was not so wide. Therefore, we made improvements by decreasing the travel distance of Black Spirit jump after being revived and also enabled auto-revive since 8 min into the game.

| Blackstar Fragment

- Increased the number of summoned Blackstar Fragments as below.

> 0-1 min : (Before) app. 25 → (Now) 30

> 3-4 min : (Before) app. 20 → (Now) 25

> 6-7 min : (Before) app. 15 → (Now) 20

> 9-10 min : (Before) app. 10 → (Now) 15

- Changed so that Blackstar Fragments must be outside the Dark Fog for more than 3 minutes to disappear.

- Improved the charging sound effect of Blackstar Fragment gauge.

 

[Dev’s Note]

Blackstar Fragments can be used strategically due to the AP and DP buff it provides to heroes. However, these fragments have fallen out of favor as other objects became more important when the method to obtain Blackstar Fragments changed. Therefore, we have increased the number of Blackstar Fragments to make them more visible near the Dark Fog, and to ensure that the AP/DP buff provided by the fragments still offer strategic value to players.

| AI Player

- Changed so that, if an AI player dies and then revives, they will be moved to other locations just like other heroes until 8 min into the game.

- Changed the distance limit an AI player could be away from their party leader as below.

> (Before) Move to the party leader if the distance away from the leader is more than 10m

> (Now) Move to the party leader if the distance away from the leader is more than 15m

- Changed the basic specs of below AI players.

> Goyen : (Before) HP 8000, DP 140 → (Now) HP 7600, DP 100

> Haru : (Before) AP 360 → (Now) AP 300

> Ahon : (Before) AP 330 → (Now) AP 270


[Dev’s Note]

Since AI players used to revive where they died during the early to mid stage of the game, other players were able to kill the AI player repeatedly by camping the same spot. To discourage that, we have changed how AI players revived by making them revive at another place until 8 min into the game just like other heroes.

| Light of Ascension

- For when the closing spot of Dark Fog is set to “Southern Gateway”, the spot where the Light of Ascension is summoned is changed so that the red circle does not include the gateway.


[Dev’s note]

If the Light of Ascension appeared at the Southern Gateway, players were safe from the Meteorites as long as they “stood on top of the Gateway” and seized the Light of Ascension. Beyond simply taking over a spot, this made pulling the winning team down and reversing the seige very difficult. To not include the Gateway in the red circle from now on, we moved the spot where the Light of Ascension appears.

| Shadow Lord

- The duration of Shadow Flame summoned by Saigord from 40 sec to 25 sec.

 

| Meteorite

- Improved so that the visual and sound effects would appear right before the Meteorites fell.

- Decreased the attack range of Meteorites by 16.7%.


[Dev’s Note]

By decreasing the overwhelming influence of important objects, Shadow Flame and Meteorites, we expect players to be able to focus more on the heroes’ battle.

 

■ Tutorial

 

- Fixed Yeonhwa’s Black Spirit Skills and Mastery Skills in Tutorial to be set at default value.

- Changed so that you cannot skip lines while having conversation with Wu-Ju by holding the mouse; you must click to skip lines.

- Fixed the issue where the HP bar would appear abnormally when you entered Tutorial.

 

 

■ UI / Effect

 

- Fixed a typo in the Loading guide.

> (Before) Players that step out into the fog will lose HP

> (Now) Players that in the fog will lose HP

- Fixed an issue where you were not able to use items in Shop Storgae in some screen resoultion settings.

 

 

■ Event

 

- [Daily Bonus "Unknown Dye”!] event has ended.

- [Battle Point Booster!] event has ended

 

 

■ Improvements to the Official Website

 

- Added Mastery Skill videos for all heroes.

 

 

■ Setting Nicknames and Clan names

 

- Fixed an issue where you could use invalid special characters for your nickname.

> We apologize for the inconvenience, and please refer to the detail below.

> As of the maintenance on June 17 (Thu) 2021, players with nicknames that contained invalid special characters were given ‘Name Change Coupon’ through their in-game mailboxes. However, players who received Name Change Coupons with last week’s maintenance are subjects of this notice.

※ For players who fail to change their nicknames before the maintenance on July 1 (Thu) 2021, their nicknames will collectively be changed to ‘TempNickname’ during the maintenance on July 1 (Thu). So, please change your nickname to a desired one during the period.

 

- Fixed an issue where you could use invalid special characters for your clan name.

> We apologize for the inconvenience, and please refer to the detail below.

> Players with clan names that contained invalid special characters were given notice mails through the clan managers’ in-game mailboxes. If you received the mail, please submit the clan name that you desire through [Support] - [Game] - [Clan Name Change Request] by July 15 (Thu) 2021, 23:59(UTC+9).

※ For players who fail to change their clan names before the maintenance on July 15 (Thu) 2021, their clan names will collectively be changed to ‘TempName’ during the maintenance on July 15 (Thu). So, please submit a clan name change request through support during the period.
